MSMEs represent 99.5% of all established businesses, employ 62.8% of the total workforce, and contribute approximately one-third of the country’s Gross Domestic Product. They play a crucial role in promoting competitiveness, rural development, and inclusive growth.
However, while driving economic progress, MSMEs also exert significant pressure on the environment through high consumption of water and energy, inadequate waste and wastewater management, and substantial carbon emissions. They are also highly vulnerable to fluctuations in the prices of power, fuel, water, and raw materials.
